The Orange Box Information
Over the last few days, lots of information and content has been coming out of the GC 2007 in Leipzig on the upcoming Orange Box release, slated for October 10th of this year. First of all, Kotaku.com has posted this interview with Gabe Newell and Doug Lombardi and look at the sustainability of the PC gaming market compared to that of the console gaming market, especially with Microsoft's failed delivery on the advanced gaming features of Vista.

Sitting down with Valve's Gabe Newell and Doug Lombardi at the Games Convention today, the 11-year anniversary of their company, Mark Wilson and I talked a bit with the two about their expectations for Orange Box, the sustainability of the PC gaming market, Microsoft's failure to deliver on their Vista gaming promises and, inevitably, developing for the Playstation 3, or rather, trying to develop for the Playstation 3. Sorry, no, he didn't really talk about your mom.

Newell called The Orange Box, due out for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 in October...

You can read the entire interview here. Over at YouGamers.com, they have managed to obtain the minimum system requirements for the Orange Box as well, which are slightly higher than that of the original release of Half-Life 2. Along with the posted specs, they have also setup a tool that collects your system information and tells you whether you'll meet the minimum, or if you'll get the best Episode 2/TF2 experience you can get. To check out the specs and the helpful tool, go over here and found out if you're ready for the Orange Box release, this fall.

Gamersyde.com, while at the Convention, took a while to play some Team Fortress 2 with a camera in the background, showing some great in-game footage, the player selection menus, and lots of action-packed fragging in two separate videos. The video shows the Heavy Weapons, Scout, Spy, and yes, the sniper in action. To download or view both videos, go here.

What could a World War II first-person shooter do that hasn't been done before? Well, if our time with Medal of Airborne: Airborne is any indication, there's still plenty of room for the genre to grow. We played through the first dramatic level of the game this week, and we're impressed with just how visceral and exciting it was. So grab your grenades and ready your parachutes, because you won't have long to wait; Medal of Honor: Airborne ships in less than two weeks.
