Call of Duty: Black Ops – Who Needs Infinity Ward?
Five reasons why Treyarch could be crafting the best Call of Duty game yet. IGN have post a two-pages article to answhere this question, with a exclusive video interview.

We know what you're thinking: seems like a pretty sensationalistic headline, right? After all, Infinity Ward has always stayed several steps ahead of stablemate Treyarch when it comes to creating Call of Duty games that both play better and sell better. So how are things going to change?

First the obvious: as we all know, the firing of Jason West and Vince Zampella in March 2010 quickly transformed Infinity Ward into a casualty ward, as the bulk of the studio's most senior staff followed their ex-bosses through the out-door. According to a recent Activision earnings call, it would appear that IW is currently working on another CoD game (presumably Modern Warfare 3), but when your office receptionist becomes your most senior member of staff overnight, it's hard to imagine that you're going to be able to maintain, let alone exceed your previously excellent standards. E3 2010: Call of Duty: Black Ops Preview(s)
IGN have posted their first impressions of the upcoming Call of Duty title 'Blackops'. An informative article with new screenshots and a exclusive video interview with Mark Lamia, president of Treyarch.

"Welcome to a world where everything you know is wrong."

Thankfully, it looks like there's going to be a bunch of other, newer elements as well. At least as far as single-player is concerned (Treyarch is mum about multiplayer details). The first piece of gameplay we were shown displayed the SR-71 Blackbird that we all gazed upon with awe in the first trailer. Yes, you're going to fly it. Not only that, but you're also going to be responsible for getting that sucker off of an aircraft carrier and into the sky. Don't worry, the process only requires a few button presses. From there, you're off to relay reconnaissance to the rest of your troops from high above. Read the rest...

Meanwhile, Gamespot have posted their impressions as well. Check out their video interview below, you can read their Call of Duty: blackops preview here.

We're going to ship an update with another small set of Pyro changes this week. Like our previous update, our goal is to increase the degree to which skill can make a difference between two Pyro players. We received a bunch of useful feedback after the last update, and we think we've managed to address most of it, without removing the skill-based additions. Read the rest...

Call of Duty: Black Ops PC Gets Dedicated Servers
Though Infinity Ward did away with dedicated server support in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 PC, the feature will return in Call of Duty: Black Ops PC this fall.

"Dedicated servers are excellent," Mark Lamia, head of Activision-owned Black Ops developer Treyarch, told magazine PC Zone as relayed by CVG. "I don't see any reason not to see them unless... well, I just don't see any reason not to."

"Dedicated servers are excellent," Mark Lamia, head of Activision-owned Black Ops developer Treyarch, told magazine PC Zone as relayed by CVG. "I don't see any reason not to see them unless... well, I just don't see any reason not to...."

"We do work very hard to reconcile the desire to manipulate and modify those dedicated servers with offering them the persistent experience and benefits that the console system provides... We're working very hard to marry those two things, so people can run dedicated servers and also participate in the communal experience the console players get to have, given they're all on first-party servers."
